satul natal, largindu-i orizontul spiritual si oferindu-i cea mai puternica sustinere.
Lemnul brut, ales cu grija, capata contururi ferme in
mainile mesterului. Din pacate, inzestrarea cu scule potrivite este cu totul deficitara;
sculptura in lemn fara traditie nu ar putea fi si fara a o respecta nu am putea-o face;

Bors is part of a special category of artisans for whom the handicraft is very close to
the soul. The fact that he finds himself often close to God, his main occupation being
that of reader and singer at the church in his native village represents an advantage for
him which gives him the possibility of broadening his cultural horizon, providing him the
most powerful support. His statement proves that the artisan from Mosna is aware of this
fact: I say God works through us and the only thing we do is offer Him our hands and
patience, for if it had not been so, we would not have been capable of creating these
extraordinary things. Moreover, the provost is his competent adviser who encourages him
in order to stick to the craftsmanship tradition. He has another major advantage: the fact
that he finds himself in permanent contact with the old men of the village, from whom he
learned what decency and measure mean. These principles helped him become one of the local
aldermen. And last but not least, the friendship with a special Mayor, Georgel Popa who
struggles to support as much as possible the development of handicrafts in the locality
made him one of AMPM newest members.
The raw timber carefully chosen gets firm lines in
the hands of the artisan. Unfortunately, he lacks appropriate tools; these being the case
the artisans achievements are so much more worthy of admiration. He specialized himself
in the following main categories of objects: first of all, monumental triptychs, then the
banquet icons, the crucifixes for the priests and so on.
Here is one of the artisans greatest prides:
The joy of seeing people using what comes out of my hands. We are glad that such
pride goes together with the respect towards authentic tradition: I believe that wood
carving would not exist without tradition and we would not be able to practice it without
showing respect for tradition, another truthful and extremely beautiful assertion comes
to reinforce these words: I do not know what else I could invent for we have so much to
learn from our forerunners. God praise the parents who gave birth and raised such a
person! |
